The Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP), through the Installation Energy Test Bed, supports the demonstration of innovative Energy and Water technologies that can help the Department of Defense (DoD) meet its energy and sustainability goals. ESTCP demonstrations take place on DoD installations and gather data to assess the performance and cost benefit of technologies in real-world conditions that will allow decision makers to evaluate their applicability across the DoD. Areas of investment include (1) Smart and Secure Installation Energy Management (including Microgrids, Energy Storage and Ancillary Service Markets), (2) Efficient Integrated Buildings (including Design, Retrofits, Operations, Enterprise Optimized Investment, Advanced Components and Intelligent Building Management), and (3) Distributed Generation (including Renewables). ESTCP promotes partnerships among academia, industry, the military services, and other federal agencies to promote robust demonstrations that meet the needs of all stakeholders.
