Overview: The Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Energy for Installations, Environment, and Energy (SAF/IE) provides overarching strategic direction for the Air Force’s operational and installation energy portfolios. Based in Washington, D.C., the office is focused on overcoming the challenges created by the Air Force’s need for energy. From the installation energy perspective, the Air Force is looking to holistically optimize cost and provide resilient, cleaner sources of energy by balancing the objectives of Air Force energy projects.
